At least 10% of the UK's carbon emissions are directly associated with construction. Waste is often produced by demolition, by ordering excess materials and ineffective ways of generating space.

Pitsea C.R.F. takes on the idea of a circular economy where we need to look at our built environment as existing material stores and closing ‘the loop.’ Pitsea C.R.F is a new waste management system, looking at revealing these resource deposits, up-cycling the incoming construction and demolition waste whilst displaying and serving as a statement of how much waste is being produced. This project proposes to look at landfills as an archive of materials rather than the final destination in the life cycle of a material. Recognising the idea of a circular economy, the project looks at how it can insert the existing landfill waste back into the loop. Various waste flows are categorised and introduced in frameworks depending on type, density and granularity.
