The MANX & SWARM. Hub ( Wildlife, Migration)
Isle of Scilly, UK

Located in the Isles of Scilly, the proposal introduces the Manx and Swarm Pavilions: dual observatory spaces featuring exhibition amenities and resting areas dedicated to the safe study of local seabirds. The scheme emerges from comprehensive research into avian migration and flocking analysis, including critical behavioural analysis and interwoven intersection patterns.

At an architectural scale, the project deploys advanced material and construction technologies tailored to sensitive ecologies. The Manx Shearwater Pavilion proposes an off-site prefabrication to minimise environmental disruption during transport and assembly. Concurrently, the Swarm Pavilion integrates a smart, bio-reactive façade that captures CO₂ to cultivate algae, establishing a localized circular economy that directly provides food for the seabirds.

Focusing on the ecological restoration of the Manx shearwater, Razorbill, and Storm petrel populations, the project presents a proposed architectural intervention. By blending eco-tourism, advanced material technologies, and wildlife conservation, the proposal offers a transformative model that highlights the vital ecological role of seabirds while actively mitigating climate impacts.
